| History: | Manumbar
is a unique piece of Australia. Surveyed in the 1840's by the Surveyor
General Burnett and settled in 1845 by the Scottish pioneer pastoralist
John Mortimer, it has long been considered a choice piece of South East
Queensland. Now consisting of the original 'Homestead' and 'lagoon' blocks,
it lies in a mountain surrounded valley containing the head waters of
the Barambah Creek system at the end of the Manumbar Road. It has an abundance
of natural timber, including old blue gums and Iron Bark trees, and a
large undisturbed stand of rainforest/vine scrub. Wild life native to
the area, including kangaroos, platypus, echidna, wallaby, possums, are
abundant and peaceful, as are Scottish red deer, introduced to the area
in the time of Queen Victoria.
The country itself undulates in a graceful flow and is the main catchment area of three creeks (including Mi Mi Pungin) forming the Barambah. Where there is an abundance of trees, strong strands of native grasses and legumes abound on the black soil flats and cleared scrub soils introduced pasture, including Panic, Rhodes, Kikuyu, Paspalum and clover dominate. An abundance of millable and/or post timber is growing on the property. 90% of internal fencing has been renewed and boundaries are in good order; the stockyards are well designed, sound and functional. The station can be run efficiently by one experienced person, with help on a casual basis when needed. The fencing and infrastructure is designed with this in mind. Its proximity of less than one hour from the main town of Kingaroy, Gympie Murgon or Goomeri, or two hours from Brisbane, belies into quiet serene isolation - by light air craft it is only 30 minutes from Brisbane's main airports. Provided grass is managed carefully, and the herd adjusted accordingly, the property has been strong in all seasons, and will continue to be so for anyone who cares to take up its stewardship and care. |

Comments:
|
The highly regarded and historic Manumbar station
is being sold basically as an on going concern. It would be just about
impossible to duplicate Manumbar with its great location, temperate
climate, and outstanding diversity of country. Over the last 2 years
the current owners have expended huge ammounts of money on the property
the results of which some fortunate "new owners" will benefit
enormously from.
